Interval House

Kingston Interval House is an Emergency Shelter and Second Stage Housing facility for women, children and youth experiencing violence. Our Emergency Shelter has 25 beds and is open 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. The shelter offers meals, accommodation, counselling, clothing, toiletries and safety. Our Second Stage Housing facility – Robin’s Hope – provides affordable housing in 18, one and two bedroom apartments for up to one year for the women and children/youth who are involved with Kingston Interval House. Our clients often leave domestic violence situations with very little. Many don't have phones or have difficulty affording phone plans. At the very least phones they can use to dial 911 are crucial to aid in their safety planning.

Queen’s Family Health Team, Community Services

One of the issues that many of our patients who are living in poverty or going through domestic violence face is that they cannot get access to cell phones and many of these patients do not seek outside help such as shelters. Physicians often have difficulties connecting to their patients.
